Privacy Policy for blockd

blockd ("the app") is an app-blocker that helps you focus by covering distracting apps with a lock screen until you scan your NFC tag or QR key. This policy explains what data the app handles. In short: blockd does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device.

Data we collect

None. blockd has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. The app does not send any information off your device and has no servers. All of your settings — the apps you choose to block, your NFC tag IDs, your QR key, and your session/pause preferences — are stored only in local storage on your device.

Permissions and why they are used

blockd requests only the permissions it needs to block apps. Each is used solely on your device, in real time, and none of the data is stored, logged, or transmitted:

• Usage access — to detect which app is currently in the foreground, so the app can show the block screen when you open a blocked app. Only the app's package name is read; screen content is never read.
• Display over other apps — to draw the block screen on top of a blocked app.
• Camera — used only while the QR scanner is open, to read your personal QR key. No images are recorded or stored.
• NFC — to read the unique ID of the NFC tag you tap, so it can be used to start or stop a blocking session.
• Notifications — to show a persistent notification while a blocking session is running.
• Accessibility service (optional) — only if you explicitly enable it, blockd uses Android's Accessibility service for a single purpose: to detect which app is in the foreground so it can show the block screen. blockd does not read, collect, store, or share the content of your screen. You can turn it off at any time in Android settings.

Data sharing

blockd does not share any data with anyone, because it does not collect or transmit any data.

Data storage and deletion

All app data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling blockd removes all of its data. You can also clear the app's data from your device's app settings at any time.

Children's privacy

blockd is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
